Sauvole
Alternative
spellings of his name include Sauvolle and Sauvolve. Referred to as a
brother of Bienville in Gayarre's History of Louisiana, little is know of
him, including his full name, titles nor year of birth.
In a note to
Historical Journal -
Establishment of French Louisiana by M. De Sauvole,
he is described
as a scholar, poet, orator and soldier.
