Pierre Auguste Bourguigon Derbigny
is the 6th Governor of Louisiana. Governor Derbigny died after ten
months in office on
October 6, 1829.
He was a candidate for governor
in the election of 1820, losing to Thomas B. Robertson.
His death was a result of a carriage accident in Gretna, La. He is buried
in St. Louis Cemetery #1 in New Orleans.
Arnaud J. Beauvais
succeeded to Governor under the Constitution of 1812 that mandated that the
President of the Senate assume the duties of the Governor in this situation. |
